Life Legacy
Naomi Vandever, 96, of Joplin, MO passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at St. John's Hospital with her great-grandson at her side.
She was born in Joplin on September 7, 1913, to Ernest and Lula Gideon. On September 12, 1931, she married James L. Vandever, also from Joplin, where they lived their entire lives. They owned and operated Vandever Tire Company for many years. After retirement, Naomi and James enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and traveling. Their favorite vacation spots were Florida, Hawaii, and Europe.
Naomi is survived by one son, William "Bill" Vandever and his wife Mariann, from Skiatook, OK, 6 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one son, James Vandever.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Thornhill-Dillon Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, July 5, at 2:00.
