Life Legacy

Samuel Fair Turner, Sr. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather and even great-great grandfather. Best known as Sam, Big Sam, Grandpa Sam and Daddy, Sam was a truly unique individual. Over his life time, Sam was a Corporal in the Marine Corps, a police officer, and insurance sales man but his passion was driving. Sam held driving positions for more than 35 years. If it had wheels Sam could drive it. He taught his children and even one of his grand children (Will) to drive. Sam was also an accomplished musician. He wrote songs, music and poetry most of his life. He loved to sing and play the upright bass fiddle. Some of Sam’s fondest memories were when he was playing music.
Sam’s other passion was family. He loved each of his children and grand children with all of his heart. But the love of his life, Carrie was always first. For 20 years the two loves lived and laughed together taking care of each other in sickness and in health just like they promised.
Faith was also an important component to Sam’s life. He often stressed to his family the importance of a Christ centered life and did his best to lead his kids and grandkids to make right choices.
Sam will be dearly missed. His life and legacy will be remembered for years to come. When ever Sam talked about Heaven, he’d tell Carrie if he went first he’d walk slow so she could catch up some day. Well, Sam, walk slow. We each will catch up with you when the Lord calls us too.
