Biography

Virginia Ann Lichty, 81 of Joplin departed this life Wednesday, January 13 at the Greenbriar Nursing Home after a long illness.



Mrs. Lichty was born on October 17, 1928 to the late Henry “Ted” and Imogene (Moyer) Hamilton in Joplin where she was raised with her four brothers and three sisters. On November 3, 1945 she was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Lichty in Columbus, Ks. and to this union three daughters were born. During her life Virginia waitressed at many restaurants in the Joplin area including the Connor Hotel, Bob Miller Restaurant Holiday Inn and Rafter’s. She enjoyed sewing and a great love for her home and family.



Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Julia A. Moore, a granddaughter Shelly Moore, two brothers Rex Hamilton and Virgil Hamilton, a sister Norma Allgood.



She is survived by two daughters Dianna Gory and husband Bill of Joplin and Carol Snow and husband Luke of Webb City, five grandchildren Kenny Fenske and wife Shelby of Pierce City, Lori Willie of Joplin, Tiffany Bradbury and husband Dave of Lewisburry, PA, Tara Carrier and husband Bay of Webb City and Alyssa Franklin of Irving, TX, nine great grandchildren, two sisters Eva Woolever of Joplin, and Joyce Shields and husband Bobby of Stroud OK, two brothers Bill Hamilton and wife Helen of Flemington, MO and Dave Hamilton and wife Mary of Joplin, MO.



Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, January 16 at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.thornhilldillon.com care of the mortuary.
